Why America Can’t Win In Afghanistan or Iraq
The problems started for the United States long before George W Bush decided that we needed to go to war with Iraq. That problem is that the CIA became over-dependent on gadgets and neglected humint or in other words, A spy who is spying on the enemy.
The U.S. has a lot of problems at the moment so it’s hard to pick just one to write about. If I’m having trouble picking a topic to simply write about, I can’t imagine what President Obama is going through in trying to fix all the problems left over from the Bush Administration.
Over indulgence on gadgets.
The CIA has gotten itself in quite the pickle. Since the end of the Cold War they didn’t have an enemy to keep them sharp. So, the Agency became lazy and instead of training new Agents, the Agency started putting almost all of it’s trust on gadgetry of all different types.
Over indulgence on satellites.
There’s an old saying that goes along the lines of “when you’re not at war you must prepare as though you were going into battle tomorrow”. I’m sure I butchered that quote but you get the idea. It’s beyond painfully clear that the U.S. Government and the C.I.A have become extremely lazy and have not been preparing for war, or anything else for that matter.
Simply put, they’ve been playing with their expensive toys that we the tax payers bought for them.
Boots on the ground, although in this case it could be sandles or loafers or sneakers.
The CIA is just now starting to realize just how important the lowly spy was to them. They are now training people and attempting to recruit other agents in enemy countries but the problem is that it takes several years to develop a spy.
End both wars now. We’ve lost Iraq and we’re going to lose Afghanistan.
The thing to remember about Afghanistan is that the United States greatest nemesis, The Soviet Union, had fought in Afghanistan for over a decade and they couldn’t make any headway.
Don’t be stupid!
If our greatest foe (The Soviet Union) could not win in Afghanistan in over a decade what makes us think we’re going to do any better? Let’s not forget that the Soviets used methods of war strictly forbidden to the U.S. and they still lost.
Just because we have newer high priced toys that go boom?
Sit down, open your eyes, look around and realize that both wars have been lost.
Bring the boys (and gals) back home.
It’s time to withdraw our troops and say goodbye to Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no way to win and no grand prize even if we did win.
Bring our troops back home and start training and recruiting as though you were going to war tomorrow and you desperately need your Agent to call you and let you know what was said at the enemy meeting.
War is a terrible thing. Always use negotiations to try and get your desired effect.
You catch more flies with honey then you do with vinegar.
Saber rattling, inflammatory rhetoric and other nonsense of this variety has to stop. For the most part it did end.
It ended on the day that Mr. Bush left Washington. It’s been a really long 8 years.
What is the conclusion we can draw from this? Well, we should stop being so cocky and we need to stop acting like the World Police. Nobody asked us to be the Police.
We should never go to war unless there is no other option. War is horrible, it disrupts lives in such ways that the scars can be felt for generations.
Instead of spending tons of cash on these idiotic Police Actions, or whatever they are. How about using that money to give the American people something they have far more use for then a war in Iraq and Afghanistan, lets give them health care.
We’re spending amazingly huge sums of money on stupidity yet we have people dying from diseases that are treatable, yet these people can’t be treated because they can’t afford the operation as they don’t have health insurance.
How about providing free school lunches to children in the Appalachia region.
There are so many wonderful things that could be done with all the money that is being wasted on an illegal war.
