I just witnessed history as 219 Democrats and 1 Republican voted to pass the House of Representatives version of the Health Care Bill with the Government Opt in plan.
I am so happy that I couldn’t sleep because I would have missed history as it happened.
As good as the news is and as much as this is an unprecedented vote in Congress, those of us who want a Public Health care plan we have to remember that the battle is not over. The Senate will be voting next on their own version of the Health Care bill and we must remember that the Democrats don’t have as much of an overwhelming presence in the Senate as they do in the House.
Yet, any way you look at it, history was made today and we’re moving in the right direction.
What will happen in the Senate is anyone’s guess and we need to keep in mind that the Republicans have much more power in the Senate then they do in the House of Representatives.
I’m so happy to have see this vote live and, at least now we know that we have a valid piece of paper that could become law. We also much keep in mind that it’s going to be a vicious fight in the Senate as Republicans will fight tooth and nail to kill their bill.
Was all of this good news? Absolutely!
As much as I wish we could celebrate already by dancing in the streets it’s not time for that yet. We’ve got a long way to go baby but at least the bill has now grown teeth and is going to be taken seriously.
This is not only a win for the American people but it is also a big win for President Obama who needed something to go his way, he needed a win and desperately.
I encourage everyone who is in favor of some form of national Health-Care to call your Senators and let them know how you feel. Send postcards, call them, visit them in their office’s but make sure you keep pushing them towards rethinking their stance of “Opposition”…
I still have my doubts that this will be the year that United States finally catches up with the rest of the civilized world by introducing nationalized Health-Care for the American people.
I think we’re still looking at an epic battle between the GOP and the Democrats and it’s very hard to tell right now who will come out of this victorious.
Will it be the American People along with the Democrats or will it be the Party of “No”…
I’ll give you one bit of information that will cheer you up, the fact that the House Bill had been voted on and passed means that right now, the Insurance Companies are Excreting Bricks from their rectum.
Here’s hoping that this time we’re going all the way.
Keep your fingers and toes crossed and we might just squeak by again, our reward will be Medical attention for everyone, the rich and the poor alike.
