We’ve known for a while that the telecoms have been collecting information and giving it to the government. Most of us are not happy with this but at least we know that it’s going on and that it’s all tied into Homeland Security.

What we didn’t know is that Yahoo! is actively collecting every bit of information they can get their hands on. Archived emails, chat logs and even your friends list is being collected and then it’s being SOLD to the government Ala-cart.

That’s right, Yahoo thought it would be a good idea to put together a menu style document from which the Government, at least we hope it’s just our government, can pick and choose which information they want. They then make a payment for the item they ordered and Yahoo delivers.

As expected, Cryptome.org is now got problems with Yahoo as the company filed a DMCA notice which is desirous that Cryptome.org take the information off the internet. Cryptome.org is not complying and rightfully so since the information was attained through the Freedom of Information Act.
